About Plymouth

Sir Francis Chichester, the first man to sail
single handed around the world, finished his voyage in Plymouth at the Royal Western Yacht Club.
Protected by the Breakwater, the sheltered
waters of Plymouth Sound make an ideal area for sailing and water sports.

We are ideally situated within easy walking distance of the modern City Centre and historic Barbican, where you will find the Mayflower Steps which mark the spot from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail to found New England. The recently extended National Marine Aquarium boasts the
deepest tank in Europe and is also situated on the Barbican along with a plethora of antique and gift shops.
The pedestrianised City Centre is the largest in the region and is a joy with its floral displays and water features.  Not only will you find the
widest range of national chains, but also many independent, specialist outlets and a large Pannier Market.
Plymouth Pavilions and The Theatre Royal are approximately 10 minutes walk away.  Brittany Ferries Terminal, with regular sailings to France and Spain, is close by.  The busy Naval dockyard and  H.M.S. Raleigh are a short ride away.
The former R.A.F. base at Mount Batten is now open to the public.  Just a five minute trip by water from the Barbican you are free to explore a
stunning coastal footpath, breakwater promenade, marina and C17 tower.
Eating out is a pleasure as there are numerous cafes, restaurants and bars and pubs close by.
